In 1996 the Okeden Stud moved down to Essex from East Yorkshire and the reins changed from founder, the late, Dr June Alexander to her daughter Joanne Alexander-Sefre.
This website celebrates the Okeden horses present and past and now also links to Okeden Equine www.okedenequine.com business division of Sefrex Ltd.
The stud was first set up in the early 1960's and the Essex divison began around 25 years later with just a couple of Welsh Cobs.
Roll on to mid 2020 and while the number of horses owned has reduced considerably to sadly right now only 3, well hopefully 4 if Okeden Lady June is in foal for next year, we have added other horses and their owners to our Okeden Team and have developed a vibrant, dynamic, horse-loving community here on the very edge of London, overseen of course by our celebrity pony Alfie the Highland Pony
And of course who has ever had an Okeden horse (or progeny) however remains part of the Okeden team and our family.
New interested and experienced female riders are always very welcome and being on the very edge of London, where suburbia seems to suddenly (and thankfully for us) become open countryside and forests, the Okeden Stud also is contributing to this in the most positive way possible.
